The Red Shoes Dance Academy is led by Artistic Director Meagan Swithers, who holds a B.A. in Dance and an M.A.T. in Curriculum & Instruction from Randolph College, where she trained through the historically renowned dance department founded by former Martha Graham Company principal dancer Helen McGehee. Meagan holds an AcrobaticArts Certification and was named 2023 Teacher of the Year at Dearington Elementary School for Innovation.

The owner is incredibly caring and attentive. RSDA is a family atmosphere and everyone helps each other whenever needed. The teachers are top notch, well trained, and personable. Our family has dancers in the mini, junior, teen, and adult divisions both in technique and performance company classes, and we have nothing but positive things to say on all levels. They also just moved into a brand new studio (Aug. 2026) that is spacious and had the dancers needs as the center of every design decision. We cannot recommend RSDA enough!
