Our Faculty
Rhythm Pointe Dance Academy is led by Owner and Artistic Director Maria Huber-Mitchelson, a former professional dancer who toured internationally with Sesame Street Live and trained under legendary choreographer Joe Tremaine in Los Angeles. She holds advanced Cecchetti certification and serves on the Cecchetti Council of America's General Board.
The teaching team includes university-trained instructors from Michigan State, Oakland University, Hope College, and Slippery Rock, alongside several RPDA alumni who return to teach after competing at the collegiate level — including a former Detroit Pistons dancer who toured with major recording artists. This mix of classical training and home-grown loyalty gives RPDA dancers instruction shaped by real professional experience.

We are so incredibly grateful for **Rhythm Pointe Dance Academy** and especially **Miss Maria**. Stella has been dancing here since she was just **2½ years old**, and over the years this studio has truly become like a second home to her.
Miss Maria has created such a warm, loving, encouraging environment where the dancers are pushed to grow while still feeling supported, confident, and cared for. Watching Stella grow not only as a dancer, but as a person, has been so special for our family.
She absolutely loves being at the studio, and we love the friendships, memories, opportunities, and beautiful community she has gained along the way.
Thank you, Miss Maria, for your dedication, passion, patience, and love for these girls. We are so grateful to be part of the Rhythm Pointe family and wouldn’t want Stella dancing anywhere else. 🤍🩰✨

This is our 17th season at Rhythm Pointe and my kids love it there. The teachers are caring and really take the time to nurture their love of dance. Mr. Shawn at the front desk looks out for our dancers and is always there for them. It is a very tight knit dance family.
