Tye Chua Dance has offered ballet in Kalamazoo since 1965, making it Michigan's oldest continuously operating ballet school. As home of Kalamazoo Ballet™, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit public charity, the studio offers ballet-centered training for children, teens, and adults in a focused, welcoming community where dancers are known individually.
Tye Chua Dance is deeply committed to accessibility — approximately 1 in 4 students receive tuition assistance, a free dancewear exchange offers leotards, tights, and shoes at no cost, and Company participation is open to any dancer who wants to perform, with auditions held only for individual roles rather than membership itself. Faculty bring real professional backgrounds in performance, teaching, and choreography, and alumni have gone on to institutions including Canada's National Ballet School, the Grainger Academy of the Joffrey Ballet, Interlochen Arts Academy, and Colorado Ballet Academy.
