Tap Dance Detroit + Performing Arts Center – Ferndale

Tap Dance Detroit + Performing Arts Center was founded by Denise Caston-Clark, a former Radio City Rockette who also taught at the prestigious Broadway Dance Center and Steps on Broadway in New York City. A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, TDD offers daily drop-in and youth classes across two locations — Ferndale and Keego Harbor — in tap, jazz, ballet, hip hop, contemporary jazz, barre fitness, Pilates, and acro, welcoming everyone from absolute beginners to working professionals.

Denise was featured on CBS Detroit News in 2023 for bringing her Rockette and NYC teaching experience to the Metro Detroit community. As she puts it: "If you can walk, you can tap dance, so literally anybody is welcome to walk in here." Beyond weekly classes, TDD performs at community outreach events including local concerts, festivals, and senior centers.
