Civic Dance Center

Civic Dance Center has developed well-rounded dancers in Bakersfield since 1968, focusing on classical ballet technique alongside tap, jazz, modern, and hip hop for all ages. Led by Executive Artistic Director Erica Ueberroth, alongside Associate Artistic Director Ann Conrad and Artistic Director for Jazz Alicia Angelini, Civic operates three state-of-the-art studios with sprung wood floors.

Civic students have been accepted into elite summer intensives nationwide, including American Ballet Theatre, The Royal Ballet School, Boston Ballet, and Ballet Austin. Troupe Civic, the studio's competitive and commercial track, prepares dancers ages 9+ for college dance teams, commercial dance careers, or professional companies, offering master classes with top industry choreographers. Civic is also home to the region's beloved annual Nutcracker, performed with a live orchestra alongside Bakersfield City Ballet — a nearly 50-year community tradition.
