Barbara Thompson School of Dance (BTSD)

Barbara Thompson School of Dance has been an award-winning studio in Jacksonville for over 60 years, founded by Barbara Thompson and now co-directed with daughters Paige and Amanda. BTSD specializes in ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, lyrical, musical theatre, gymnastics, and hip hop for aspiring and advanced dancers of all ages.

Whether recreational or competitive, BTSD's multidisciplinary approach focuses on health, self-esteem, and teamwork. Competitive opportunities are available through the studio's audition-based Performance Groups, which travel to local, regional, and national competitions, with BTSD dancers consistently leading scholarship recipients. BTSD-trained dancers have gone on to perform in Broadway musicals, at the Oscars and Grammys, in national and international dance companies, and on tour with artists including Madonna, Beyoncé, Christina Aguilera, Nelly Furtado, and Cirque du Soleil.
